Our Journey

Clean-up Drives

We began our quest toward Clean Shoreline on March 12, 2022. As part of the Global Recycling Day, We Grow Forest Foundation initiated a beach clean-up drive at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, titled Clean Shoreline – The Sea of Change. We strive for the world’s most recognisable beach award, the Blue Flag, which is regarded as the gold standard for beaches. Clean Shoreline -The Sea of Change is committed to implementing sustainable beach management principles in India.
We would also like to preserve healthy sea sides through effective waste management, such as installing permanent waste bins, beach beautification by planting appropriate plant species, and Art for Awareness installations through activities like wall painting and sculpture making. We need to instil a positive mindset in people through the cleaning initiatives we organise.

Our Environment

Every scrap of waste collected from a beach means less garbage polluting our oceans, posing a severe threat to marine life!
Pollution has wreaked havoc on Veli Beach. Unkempt beaches endanger public health, reduce property values, and stifle economic growth in the community. Clean-Up Drives encourage people to manage the trash effectively through appropriate garbage disposal, segregation, recycling, or reusing goods effectively. ‘Clean Shoreline-The Sea of Change‘ turns every bit of trash into data that apprise governments, ocean activists, and companies. This information has benefited from adequate waste segregation, management and recycling by installing bins, single-use plastic restrictions, beach beautification, community awareness and informed municipal waste policies.

Our Journey reveals the truth!

Take a look at our Data Story Maps.

We would also like to preserve healthy sea sides through effective waste management. We have collected 10940+ kilograms of waste from our previous clean-ups, of which glass bottles and plastics constitute 71 percent. All these wastes could have been prevented from ending up on the beach if proper disposal facilities were available. Installation of permanent waste bins and proper segregation and recycling is the logical solution to protect our oceans.
